video by Jackie Kim.

For seven weeks during the summer of 2010, nine international and local artists lived and worked in the village of Baedari in Incheon, South Korea. This artist residency program, "Public Studio V: Boat and Bridge_Net" focused on bridging the gap between the community surrounding the art space, the artists and their practice.

So we did not work individually in secluded studios but researched and created in and around the village, with the citizens, infrastructures and culture available. We took cold showers, walked a lot, drank rice wine at night, talked to a lot of people and made strong connections with the villagers.

Many thanks to Spacebeam community and the city of Incheon. Click here to view the rest of the stuff I made that summer, my favorite pieces are the paper cutouts.
